The Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco has declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy because it is facing 500 lawsuits for clergy sexual abuse. (WaPo)
CT has an interesting profile on Federal Judge Drew Tipton in Texas who is a Baptist and is deciding a lawsuit from Texas and other states. The lawsuit is seeking to shut down the migrant sponsorship policy, which allows up to 30,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans to enter the U.S. each month and apply for work permits.
I was also asked by CT to comment on what readers should look for during the GOP debate.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis says that he’s writing a second part to his 2015 “green” encyclical on the environment, Laudato Sì. (WaPo) The Pope also called for a peaceful solution to the Niger crisis, weeks after a military coup. (RNS)
