This past week, the SBC held its annual meeting and voted in a new president, Texas Pastor Bart Barber. (AP) They also passed two reform measures on the sex abuse report from Guideposts — a “ministry check” website for those accused and the creation of an Abuse Reform Implementation Task Force to examine the SBC's response to sexual abuse allegations. (CNN) Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church gave statements to messengers about differences in theological convictions and working together, all while Saddleback was facing expulsion for violating a ban on women pastors. Saddleback remains in the SBC for now. (WaPo)
