Hi friends,
Some really excellent articles this week to send you off into your weekend. I think Gracy Olmstead is just one of the most promising young(er) voices out there…the kind of person I’m grateful I’ll get to read for the next thirty years. Her latest for the NYT is just a tremendous model for expressing theological truths in the public square. Also, don’t miss the first article…I hope to write on the idea in the coming days.
If you’re in Atlanta, join Justin Giboney, Erika Collier and I at Image Church tomorrow at 10 AM for an event on faithfulness in politics
Also, in case you missed it, read my thoughts on the Electoral College debate. I’ve enjoyed the feedback I’ve received so far on it. I’m only able to dedicate the time to thinking and writing on topics like these because of our subscribers…thank you.
And if you haven’t become a paid subscriber yet, would you consider it?
Have a great weekend. I’m hoping the Buffalo Bills go 3-0, and Bologna FC goes another week without a loss. May your weekend be filled with similar victories (unless you’re rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals or Roma, because we can’t all win).
Yours,
Michael
Your top 5 articles of the week:
“Multimember House Districts” (Politico)
Because this is the kind of thinking we need around reforming politics.
“Clarence Thomas’ Radical Vision of Race” (The New Yorker)
Because the most conservative member of the Supreme Court also centers his jurisprudence on race.
“Has the Presidency Skipped Gen X?” (The Atlantic)
Because Gen X politicians formed their ideologies around platforms that no longer really exist.
“Don’t Let Climate Change Stop You From Becoming a Parent” (The New York Times)
Because the climate change problem has created a debate around the morality of having children.
“The End of the Roman Empire Wasn’t Bad” (The Atlantic)
Because the Romans needed to go away in order for the rest of the world to flourish and move on. An interesting take on history.
