We’re trying to take the temperature down on how much news you have thrown at you, while also providing clear-eyed analysis that explores the intersection of faith and politics in the US and abroad from two people who’ve worked in politics. Truly, this newsletter is a labor of love and collaboration with our subscriber community, and we hope you join us.
You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.
Who we are
Michael Wear is the CEO and President of the Center for Christianity and Public Life. Previously, he was Founder of Public Square Strategies LLC. He is a leading expert at the intersection of faith, politics, and American public life. As one of President Obama’s “ambassadors to America’s believers” (Buzzfeed), Michael directed faith outreach for President Obama’s historic 2012 re-election campaign. Michael was also one of the youngest White House staffers in American history, working in the Office for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Michael is author of Reclaiming Hope: Lessons Learned in the Obama White House About the Future of Faith in America, and he is often published or quoted in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, USA Today and more.
Melissa Wear works in foreign policy, international development and cultural relations in Washington, DC as the Owner and Principal Consultant of Public Square Strategies, LLC. She has a Master’s in European Politics and likes to take the newsletter outside of the US to look at other areas of the world.
And yes, Melissa and Michael are married (adorable that they do this newsletter together, right?) and are raising their daughters, Saoirse and Ilaria, in Maryland.
All opinions expressed in the newsletter are Michael or Melissa’s own.
