Curious if you've heard Miroslav Volf interact with the idea of Moral Therapeutic Deism. I've heard or seen it in several places and contexts, sometimes slightly different interpretations of what's unique, or interesting, or attractive about it and what to do about it. I'm not sure I recall hearing Volf talk about it but it seems like he'd have interesting insight, especially regarding the way you connect it to what you call Political Therapeutic Deism.
I think what you're saying about the connection is that, in both cases, the first word (Moral and Political) is about self-expression more than its traditional connotations? Potentially resonant with what Volf calls "thin religiosity"?
