In the ministry I am leading, this is what I have learned by listening to those who have felt compelled to leave "church" as they have experienced. They are not leaving because they can't tolerate our belief in the claims of Jesus Christ. They are leaving because they don't believe we are serious about living those claims out. They see those beliefs as almost a covering for our misbehavior, rather than a calling for something new and beautiful.
Brilliant analogy of the "fixer". I hope we fire this imposter Jesus and replace him with the real one.
